The Hot Potato

Terms of Use

Effective October 14, 2026

The Hot Potato is owned and operated by Kerido LLC. These terms, including the Community Guidelines below, apply whenever you use The Hot Potato on the web or in the app. By creating an account or continuing to use the service, you agree to them.

Your account

You must be at least 13 years old to use The Hot Potato. Your account is tied to your phone number. Keep access to it secure, use your real name, and don’t create accounts for or impersonate someone else.

Community Guidelines

The Hot Potato is for playing with friends and family. There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. Don’t post, comment, name a group or theme, or set a profile that includes:

  • Harassment, bullying, intimidation or threats
  • Hate speech or attacks on people based on who they are
  • Sexual content involving minors, in any form
  • Sexually explicit content or nudity
  • Graphic violence, or encouragement of violence or self-harm
  • Illegal content, or promotion of illegal activity
  • Spam, scams, or impersonation
  • Someone else’s private information without their permission
  • Content you don’t have the right to share

Child safety standards

The Hot Potato, operated by Kerido LLC, prohibits child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE). This includes child sexual abuse material (CSAM), grooming, sexual extortion, trafficking, and any content or behavior that sexually exploits or endangers a child. This prohibition also covers computer-generated material.

Report a child safety concern using the in-app reporting controls described below, or contact our designated child safety contact at support@thehotpotato.app. Include enough information to identify the account or content; do not download, copy, or send suspected abuse imagery by email. If a child is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services.

We prioritize child safety reports, remove or disable access to violating content, and take action against offending accounts. We report apparent child sexual exploitation and abuse to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) or the appropriate authorities as required by applicable law, and preserve relevant information as legally required. Our child safety contact handles these reports and inquiries from Google Play and relevant authorities.

Reporting and blocking

In the app, tap someone’s name or photo to report a post, a comment, or that person, or to block them. Use Report a problem in a group’s menu to report the group. You can also email support@thehotpotato.app. We review reports within 24 hours. When content breaks these terms, we remove it, and we remove people who post it from the service.

Blocking someone hides their posts and comments from you and stops them from inviting you to groups. They aren’t told. You both stay in groups you already share.

Your content

You own what you post. You give Kerido LLC permission to store, display and deliver it to the members of the groups you share it with, and to operate and improve the service. Content may be reviewed for safety, including through automated screening of text and in response to reports, and we may remove content or accounts that break these terms.

Ending your use

You can delete your account from your profile at any time. We may suspend or end access for anyone who breaks these terms or puts other players at risk.

Disclaimers

The Hot Potato is provided as is, without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Kerido LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for content posted by other players.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms as the service evolves. When we make material changes, we’ll ask you to agree again before you post. Questions may be sent to support@thehotpotato.app.
